PROJECT 3

Last project for this semester is using a wet media. However, a friend of mine told me that a poster colour is different with a watercolour which the responed are from my Whatsapp status where i upload a picture of my poster colour that haven't been use for about 3 - 4 years from now. So, the rule here is that I have to use a watercolour for 70% in my art and another 30% from a dry media for shadow. Now I have to go to the art shop to buy some watercolour and I got the cheapest one because I'm all out of money haha.

This time, the subject matter is a gala theme and I choose one of the famous designer for this dress called Iris Van Herpen. I just love the design style. It's really look authentic and rare also hard to remake it (especially for me).

I forgot to take a picture of the body figure sketch which its really tricky and I'm very focused on erase and drawing this reference. The details on this dress basically not much like the embroidery but it have so many line that need to focus on (and yeah doing it with Billie Eilish songs is a vibe thou). Finally, I manage to finish it and now the colouring session.

Since we using the watercolour, I have tried so many combination to find the closest colour from the reference. I do this work on school holidays and all my siblings are coming home with their children. Basically, we have a colouring session together where i have to print for them. It's a good bonding to see them do an activities rather than just playing their phones.

This dress only focus on 1 colour with different tones. What I learn with this medium is that, I need to focus on finding the right colour first then smudge it on the drawing. Afterward, using a water to blend the colour right away because if you're doing it later, the watercolour will dry and hard to blend. Also, the colour that we combine must be darker as what we wanted the after look. The watercolour will lighten as it's smoothen to the area that we flow it.

Last step is shadow which I'm using a pencil colour. This will give the "pop up" look to the drawing. Now I am all done and hoping for the best in all my project this semester.

This is my final process.. ta daaa
